December 7, 2010Marysvale Playground to be
Upgraded
The community playground in Marysvale is getting a facelift,
thanks in part to a $15,000 investment provided through the
Provincial Governments 2010 Capital Grant Program.
"This funding will be used to help with the purchase of
equipment, fencing, and to upgrade the surface of the
playground," said the Honourable Terry French, Minister of
Tourism, Culture and Recreation. "The Provincial Government is
committed to assisting community groups in their efforts to
provide safe outdoor recreational environments which encourage
young people to engage in more physical activity."
The Marysvale Recreation Committee is among more than 40
recreation committees, municipalities, and community-based
organizations throughout the province which have received
funding to upgrade their recreation and sport infrastructure
through these latest Capital Grant Program investments.
"This investment in the community playground in Marysvale is
great news for people in the area, particularly families with
young children," said the Honourable Tom Hedderson, Minister of
Transportation and Works and MHA for Harbour Main. "Our
government is committed to promoting healthy living and we
encourage families to engage in outdoor recreational activities
together. Enhancements to this playground will benefit area
residents for many years to come."
