The Town of Kippens will upgrade its community
recreation area with the help of $15,000 provided through the Provincial
Governments 2010 Capital Grant Program.
"This funding is being used to assist with the
construction of an outdoor sand volleyball court," said the Honourable
Terry French, Minister of Tourism, Culture and Recreation. "The addition
of this court provides community residents with another opportunity to
participate in physical activity in an outdoor environment."
Kippens is among more than 40 municipalities,
recreation commissions and community-based organizations throughout the
province which have received funding to upgrade their recreation and
sport infrastructure through these latest Capital Grant Program
investments.
"I am delighted with this investment which will assist
the Town of Kippens in the construction of an outdoor volleyball court,"
said Port au Port MHA Tony Cornect. "It is another clear indication of
our governments commitment to improving recreational infrastructure and
facilities in our communities that, in turn, will improve and support
the needs of our population."
