Corner Brook Ski Club Provided $15,000 to
Upgrade Trail Grooming Capabilities
The Blow Me Down Cross County Ski Club in
Corner Brook will improve its trail groomer capabilities thanks in part
to $15,000 provided through the Provincial Government's 2010 Capital
Grant Program.
"This funding will be used to assist with the
purchase of several ski trail groomer attachments," said the Honourable
Terry French, Minister of Tourism, Culture and Recreation. "Cross
country skiing is an excellent way to enjoy the outdoors and participate
in physical activity during the winter months, and we are pleased to
provide this funding to assist the Blow Me Down Cross Country Ski Club
in their efforts to provide its clients with the best possible skiing
experience."
The Blow Me Down Cross Country Ski Club is
among more than 40 municipalities, recreation commissions, and
community-based organizations throughout the province which have
received funding to upgrade their recreation and sport infrastructure
through these latest Capital Grant Program investments.
"As the proud MHA for Humber West, I am
delighted that the Blow Me Down Cross Country Ski Club will be provided
with $15,000 to upgrade their trail grooming capabilities," said the
Honourable Danny Williams, Premier of Newfoundland and Labrador. "The
Blow Me Down Cross Country Ski Club is an important part of the
community and is enjoyed by countless residents and visitors to the
region. It is investments such as this one which reinforce our
government�s commitment to physical activity and sport throughout
Newfoundland and Labrador."

Budget 2010: The Right Investments � For
Our Children and Our Future provides an additional $300,000 to the
Capital Grant Program, bringing the total annual investment in this
program to $1.3 million. Since the introduction of the Provincial
Government�s recreation and sport strategy, Active, Healthy
Newfoundland and Labrador (2007), more than $70 million in new
funding has been committed for recreation and sport infrastructure and
programming.
