Province's
Tourism Marketing Campaign
Wins Best of Show at Annual ICE Awards
Newfoundland and Labrador's tourism marketing efforts
were rewarded once again this past weekend at the 2010 Innovation,
Creativity and Enterprise (ICE) advertising awards, taking home 17
awards, including the top honour — Best of Show — for the province's
Find Yourself Here
campaign. The awards ceremony was held Friday
(October 22) at the World Trade and Convention Centre in Halifax, Nova
Scotia.
"As a government, we continue to be proactive in our
approach to marketing Newfoundland and Labrador as a destination of
choice," said the Honourable Terry French, Minister of Tourism, Culture
and Recreation. "People all over the world appreciate the fact that our
province is a place where they can enjoy unique experiences, in a
breath-taking environment, among the friendliest people in the world.
With our campaign being acknowledged as Best of Show, it is clear that
our multi-faceted, multi-media marketing campaign continues to make a
positive and lasting impression."
A detailed listing of the awards received can be found
in the backgrounder below.
The province's marketing efforts are developed in
partnership with local marketing and advertising company, Target
Marketing and Communications Inc.
The Provincial Government has more than doubled its
annual marketing budget from $6 million to $13 million since 2003,
resulting in an overall increase of 14 per cent in non-resident
visitation. Since 2006, the province's Find Yourself Here
campaign has been awarded 95 regional, national and international
awards. The tourism industry contributes approximately $850 million to
the provincial economy, and employs about 13,000 people.
Established in 2001, the ICE Awards are organized by a
group of Atlantic Canadian advertising and marketing professionals in
celebration of creative advertising designed and developed in Atlantic
Canada. For more information about this year's award winners and the
