Media Advisory: Minister to Announce Funding for Upcoming Hockey Canada Events

The Honourable Terry French, Minister of Tourism, Culture and Recreation, will make a funding announcement tomorrow (Wednesday, August 4) in support of a series of Hockey Canada events to be held in Newfoundland and Labrador over the course of the next nine months. The news conference, organized by Hockey Canada, will be held at Mile One Centre, Caps Pub, beginning at 12:00 noon. The minister will be joined by Scott Salmond, Senior Director, National Teams, Hockey Canada; Dave Cameron, Head Coach, Team Canada; Al Murray, Head Scout, Team Canada, and Gerry Evans, President, Hockey Newfoundland and Labrador.

Hockey Canada, in conjunction with Hockey Newfoundland and Labrador, will hold a National Junior Team Development Camp in St. John's from August 4-7. The 2010 4 Nations Cup, featuring the world's best female hockey players, will also be held in the province from November 9-13, 2010, and from April 18-24, the province will play host to the 2011 TELUS Cup National Midget Hockey Tournament.
