Over $17,800
Provided to Gander's North Atlantic Aviation Museum
The North Atlantic Aviation Museum in Gander has
received $17,850 in operational support through the province's Cultural
Economic Development Program.
"The North Atlantic Aviation Museum exhibits include personal
reminiscences of Gander's early days, activities during the Second World
War, and changes in aviation during the 1950s and 1960s," said the
Honourable Terry French, Minister of Tourism, Culture and Recreation.
"There are many stories contained within the museum's walls that have
been preserved and protected by its custodians over the years. I applaud
them for their safeguarding of this important piece of Newfoundland and
Labrador history."
The Honourable Kevin O'Brien, MHA for Gander, welcomed the investment.
"This operational support will surely be an asset to The North Atlantic
Aviation Museum," said Minister O'Brien. "The museum captures Gander's
aviation history and is a great tourism attraction for our visitors and
the residents of our town."
The 2010 Cultural Economic Development Program (CEDP) is providing $1.27
million for operational and project support to the heritage sector, and
about $1.2 million to the professional arts sector, for a total of
almost $2.5 million.
CEDP applications are considered based on the strength of the business
plans, vision and potential for development within the sector. For more
