The Town of Steady Brook will receive $15,000 from the
Community Capital Grant Program to assist in both the further
construction of a walking trail, and the improvement of its community
playground.
"This funding will be used to further develop the
town's walking trail, which joins into another trail near Marble
Mountain, and to provide new equipment and repairs for the community
playground," said the Honourable Terry French, Minister of Tourism,
Culture and Recreation. "We are pleased to support these initiatives, as
they offer increased recreational opportunities to everyone in the
community, young and older alike."
Steady Brook is among more than 30 communities
throughout the province which will receive funding to purchase equipment
and upgrade their recreation and sport infrastructure through the most
recent allocation of $450,900 through the Community Capital Grant
Program.
"I am very pleased the Town of Steady Brook has
received this additional funding," said the Honourable Tom Marshall, MHA
for Humber East. "The upgrades to the walking trail and playground area
will benefit all area residents and will help promote a healthy, active
lifestyle."
The Community Capital Grant Program is an
application-based program that provides grants of up to $15,000 to help
municipalities and recreation commissions improve their recreation and
sports infrastructure.
Budget 2010:
