Media Advisory: Fogo Island Events Focus on Cultural, Tourism Pursuits

The Honourable Terry French, Minister of Tourism, Culture and Recreation, will be on Fogo Island on Tuesday and Wednesday (June 1-2) to take part in several cultural and tourism-related events involving the Shorefast Foundation, the Fogo Island Arts Corporation, and the National Film Board of Canada. Minister French will be joined by Derrick Dalley, MHA for The Isles of Notre Dame.

The events include the opening of the Fogo Island Film House at 7:30 p.m. on June 1; a rock-turning ceremony to break ground for the Fogo Island Inn, at 12:30 p.m. on June 2; and, the opening of the Long Studio, the first of six planned art studios designed to house visiting artists, at 2:00 p.m. to the region.
