Media Advisory: Minister to Open Spring Conference
of the International Emergency Management Group

The Honourable Dianne Whalen, Minister of Municipal Affairs and Minister Responsible for Emergency Preparedness, will officially open the Spring Conference of the International Emergency Management Group tomorrow (Tuesday, May 18) and provide remarks on behalf of the Provincial Government. The event gets underway at 8:30 a.m. at the Sheraton Hotel, St. John's.

The IEMG Spring Conference 2010 brings together representatives from Eastern Canada and the New England States to provide for mutual assistance in managing an emergency or disaster among participating jurisdictions. The group was created through a resolution of the Conference of New England Governors and Eastern Canadian Premiers in 1998.
