May 27, 2010Media Advisory: Ministers to Hold
Northern Strategic Plan
Information Session in Nain
The Honourable John Hickey, Minister of Labrador Affairs, and the
Honourable Patty Pottle, Minister of Aboriginal Affairs, will be in Nain
tomorrow, (Friday, May 28) to hold an information session on the
Northern Strategic Plan (NSP). The session is scheduled to take
place at the Atsanik Lodge at 12:00 noon.
The NSP is a five-year plan to improve the health and well-being of
all Labradorians through expanding infrastructure, improving the
delivery of programs and services and encouraging economic prosperity.
With an investment of more than $158 million, Budget 2010 supports the
plan's vision of a Labrador where government and people work together so
that all residents share in an improved quality of life.
At its inception, the NSP had an initial investment of $250 million
with 145 commitments. It is now expected the plan will see $587.3
million invested in Labrador, with some 210 commitments.
