CEDP investment is designed to provide greater opportunities to stimulate economic activity within the provinces cultural and heritage industries, said the Honourable Clyde Jackman, Minister of Tourism, Culture and Recreation. Through this program, emerging and established individuals and organizations are provided support to refine their professional skills, showcase their work, and increase their exposure locally, nationally and internationally.

In additional to funding announced earlier this year, recent investments in cultural sector projects through the CEDP include:

  • Riddle Fence Inc. $10,000 to assist in the publication of three upcoming issues of the arts and culture journal, Riddle Fence.

  • Tina Dolter (Visual Artist) $2,822 to offset costs associated with her participation in the curated exhibition, The Last Taboo, which took place recently at the ZoomerShow 2009 trade show in Toronto.
  • City of St. Johns $2,500 to engage the services of Reid Henry of Local Projects Inc., to present a workshop on developing and managing cultural facilities.

The CEDP is a $2.8 million program which supports arts, cultural and heritage initiatives throughout the province.
