The Newfoundland and Labrador Shooting Association is
hosting the first Atlantic regional air gun championship
in 10-metre ISSF Air Rifle and Air Pistol, on October
2325, in the Frank Zahn High Performance Marksmanship
and CSCA Training Centre, School of Human Kinetics and
Recreation room PE-1002. Teams of Canada Games hopeful
shooters from Nova Scotia, New Brunswick, and
Newfoundland and Labrador, will shoot two relays of ISSF
air rifle and air pistol. On Sunday at 2:00 p.m., the
top four shooters, after the qualifying round, in mens
air pistol, womens air rifle and mens air rifle will
shoot a 10 shot finals where shots are scored to the
nearest 10th of a point.
For Newfoundland and Labrador junior athletes, this
event does count towards selection for the Canada Games
Team 2010-2011. Junior athletes with birth dates between
1991 and 1998 inclusive attaining a minimum qualifying
score, in an ISSF event, will be eligible for a position
on the provincial junior.
This is the first time in nearly 30 years that an
Atlantic regional championship has been held in the
Olympic shooting sport. The event is open to spectators
and media. It is recommended that the marquis event will
be the finals on Sunday afternoon. Anyone interested in
seeing and learning more about the lifelong sport of
target shooting can drop in Friday evening, all day
Saturday and Sunday. Details about relay times can be
found on the NLSA website,
www.olympicshooting.nl.ca or you can contact Dave
