Public Advisory: Province Conducting Prescribed Burn

The Department of Natural Resources advises that it will conduct a prescribed burn on Saturday, July 11, at Mitchells Pond (Camp 180) in the area between Middle Barachois and Crabbes Rivers. The burn is being conducted as part of a silviculture management activity to prepare the site for planting and to eliminate the threat of adelgid, a naturally occurring forest pest which limits tree growth.

The prescribed burn will take place approximately three kilometres off the Trans-Canada Highway and is located in Forest Ecosystem Management District 14 on the west coast. The prescribed burn will take one day to complete, weather conditions permitting.
