Media Advisory: Minister Skinner to Participate in Unveiling Ceremony

The Honourable Shawn Skinner, Minister of Innovation, Trade and Rural Development, will speak tomorrow (Friday, August 14) at an unveiling ceremony to commemorate Philip Francis Little as a person of national historic significance.

The event will take place at 2:00 p.m. in the Tattoo Training Facility, Visitor Centre, Signal Hill National Historic Site.

Philip Francis Little was Newfoundland�s first prime minister in 1855 following Britain�s granting of responsible government to the colony. During his tenure, he advanced Newfoundland�s interests and autonomy through the Reciprocity Treaty with the United States and led the colony�s successful condemnation of a proposed fisheries convention between Britain and France.
