JobsinNL.ca Website Officially Launched

The Provincial Government today launched JobsinNL.ca, its new official online recruitment and job search resource.

"The launch of this site represents another step in our continued efforts to better connect employers and job seekers throughout the province," said the Honourable Susan Sullivan, Minister of Human Resources, Labour and Employment. "This new site will complement our existing employment and human resource supports such as our network of regional Career Work Centres. Together, these services will provide the supports individuals need to successfully find and prepare for employment while helping employers find the skilled workers they need to compete."

www.JobsinNL.ca is a powerful, simple, and streamlined website that can provide job seekers and employers with everything they need in just a couple of clicks. Employers will enjoy the fact that they can post their job ads at no cost and manage the resumes they receive for these positions online. Job seekers, both inside and outside the province, will be able to search for jobs in all regions of Newfoundland and Labrador, directly apply for these positions and enjoy instant notifications about new positions of interest as they are posted on the site. They will also have easy access to information about a wide array of employers operating across the province.

"We know this resource is timely and will be valued by both employers and job seekers," said Minister Sullivan. "Over the past couple of weeks we have already had upwards of 2800 employers pre-register on the site in preparation for todays launch. The Department of Human Resources, Labour and Employment is proud to bring this much anticipated service to the people of Newfoundland and Labrador."

The Newfoundland and Labrador Business Coalition, a volunteer organization made up of business organizations throughout the province, echoed Minister Sullivans enthusiasm.

"This powerful new online resource was developed through collaborative partnership between business, labour, and government, and the result is a powerful tool that will connect the right people for the right employment at the right time," said Denis Mahoney, Chair of the Business Coalition. "I am confident it will enhance efficiency and consistency in the recruiting process in this province, and I look forward to seeing this exciting online tool in use."

This new site helps fulfill the Provincial Governments commitment to develop more responsive recruitment and retention resources, including a site to allow workers from here and beyond to register and more easily find work in this province. www.JobsinNL.ca will also help the Provincial Government meet its new commitments under a devolved Canada-Newfoundland and Labrador Labour Market Development Agreement. Under this new agreement, on November 2, 2009, the province assumed responsibility for a variety of employment services previously offered by Service Canada - including delivery of the national Job Bank service for Newfoundland and Labrador. As of todays launch, www.JobsinNL.ca will become the one-stop job search website for people here and around the world who are looking to work in Newfoundland and Labrador.

Employers are encouraged to visit www.jobsinNL.ca today to sign up for an account and start posting free job ads. Job seekers are also encouraged to visit the site to find out about job opportunities available here in Newfoundland and Labrador.
