Report Completed on Harassment Complaint by Child and Youth Advocate

The Honourable Roger Fitzgerald, Speaker of the House of Assembly, is pleased to advise that the second investigation of the complaint of harassment made by Darlene Neville, Child and Youth Advocate, against the Speaker has been completed. The investigator has concluded there was no harassment of the Child and Youth Advocate by the Speaker.

The second investigation was completed by an independent external body as requested by Ms. Neville as a result of an alleged conflict of interest by the Citizens Representative in conducting the first investigation. This investigation was done by The Centre for Innovative Dispute Resolution and the report was received on Thursday, June 4, 2009.

"I am pleased, but not surprised, with the findings of both investigations. My concern has always been, and will continue to be, ensuring a healthy working environment for all employees of the House of Assembly and the Statutory Offices" said the Speaker.

Copies of the report are available by contacting Marie Keefe, Policy and Communications Officer, at 729-6943.
