Motor Registration Services Expanded in Stephenville and St. Anthony

People living in St Anthony and Stephenville, and the surrounding communities, are now benefiting from improvements to the services offered at their local Government Service Centres. These offices can now accept direct payment for a number of motor registration services so that customers no longer need to visit a bank or credit union to complete their transaction.

By adding extra resources at each of these offices, we have been able to improve our service to customers in these areas, said the Honourable Kevin OBrien, Minister of Government Services. Providing better access and expanding our services is especially important in rural parts of our province where access to offices may be more limited. Reducing the number of steps someone needs to complete their transactions will benefit our customers.

Customers in both areas can now pay for and receive road tests, intransit permits and copies of their drivers records at these two locations. Payment can now also be accepted for vehicle renewals, drivers licence renewals, photo identification cards, learners permits and payment of outstanding fines documents will be processed at the Motor Registration Division head office in Mount Pearl and returned to the customer by mail.

I am quite pleased that capabilities have been expanded in the best interest of people in this area, said the Honourable Joan Burke, MHA for St. GeorgesStephenville East. This particular centre serves a large number of people, and I would like to thank Minister OBrien in streamlining the services offered to area residents.

These service upgrades will be of tremendous benefit and convenience to the residents of the whole Port au PortStephenville-Bay St. George area, said Tony Cornect, MHA for Port au Port. It is great to see our government continue to make improvements to services throughout the province.

These expanded services in St. Anthony and Stephenville are a continuation of a commitment by the Provincial Government to improve services at Government Service Centres throughout the province. This has included an expansion to full motor registration services in Gander and Happy Valley-Goose Bay earlier this year.

We want to provide residents of Newfoundland and Labrador with the best service we can within our available resources, said Minister OBrien. I am very pleased that the Government Service Centres in St. Anthony and Stephenville have now been upgraded and can provide even better customer service to residents in these areas.
