Occupational Health and Safety Charges Lewisporte Company

The Department of Government Services announced today that a Lewisporte company has been charged with five violations of the Occupational Health and Safety Act and Regulations. The charges arose from an inspection which occurred in Grand Falls-Windsor in October 2008. No accident or injury had occurred.

Sunshine Roofing Co. Ltd. is alleged to have violated occupational health and safety legislation requiring fall protection, eye protection, foot protection, safe means of access to a roof, and an appropriate first aid kit.

The company had its first appearance at Grand Falls-Windsor Provincial Court on April 1. Its next appearance is scheduled for May 5.

The charges are the result of an investigation by the Occupational Health and Safety Branch.
