Premier
Williams to Promote Newfoundland and Labrador in New
York
The Honourable Danny
Williams, Premier of Newfoundland and Labrador, will
host a luncheon in New York on Monday, November 16, to
promote Newfoundland and Labrador's trade and investment
opportunities. The Premier will be joined in New York by
the Honourable Kathy Dunderdale, Minister of Natural
Resources, and Ed Martin, President and CEO of Nalcor
Energy.
It is important that we
promote Newfoundland and Labrador abroad and create
awareness about the innovative technology, projects and
trade opportunities available in our province, said
Premier Williams. We will showcase Newfoundland and
Labrador as a prospective location for investment and
focus specifically on our provinces potential as a
long-term producer of competitive and reliable green
energy through the Lower Churchill project.
New Yorkbased energy
companies, utilities, government leaders, energy
regulators, the financial sector and business media have
been invited to the luncheon to learn more about
Newfoundland and Labrador's robust economic performance
and investment opportunities in the energy and
industrial sectors.
"We are delivering our
message directly into the US market about our ability to
provide clean energy solutions that will assist
jurisdictions in meeting climate change targets for
carbon reduction, said Premier Williams. Earlier this
year, we announced the historic arrangement which sees
Newfoundland and Labrador wheeling hydroelectric power
into the North American marketplace. Given our existing
presence in the market and the huge potential we have to
offer, we look forward to a receptive audience in New
York next week.
The luncheon will be
co-hosted by the Canadian Consulate in New York, and
will take place at 12:30 p.m. ET at the Hilton New York,
1335 Avenue of the Americas, New York, New York. The
luncheon will build upon the Premiers attendance at the
Governors Global Climate Summit 2 this past September
in Los Angeles, where he also promoted the province and
the clean energy potential in Newfoundland and Labrador.
