Environmental Assessment
Bulletin
The Honourable Charlene
Johnson, Minister of Environment and Conservation, has
announced the following events relative to Part 10
Environmental Assessment of the Environmental Protection
Act.
REGISTRATION AMENDMENT RECEIVED:
Labrador Island Transmission Link
Proponent: Nalcor Energy
(Reg. 1407)
An amendment to the environmental assessment (EA)
registration document for the Labrador Island
Transmission Link has been received. The amendment was
required as Nalcor Energy gave notification on September
3, 2009, that the Gros Morne National Park proposed
transmission route was no longer under consideration.
The Long Range Mountain route, as outlined in the
January 29, 2009 EA registration, is now the proposed
route.
Essentially, this amendment removes any reference to the
Gros Morne National Park route. Nalcor Energy has
committed to submitting a totally revised stand alone
registration document in the coming weeks. This document
will also be posted on the departments website.
