Media Advisory: MMSB to Launch New Household Hazardous Waste Collection Depot

The Honourable Charlene Johnson, Minister of Environment and Conservation, will attend the official opening of a household hazardous waste depot on the Northern Peninsula, tomorrow (Wednesday, July 8) at 11:30 a.m. at the St. Anthony landfill site. In case of inclement weather, the event will take place at the town hall in St. Anthony.

Minister Johnson will be joined by Mike Samson, Interim Chair and Chief Executive Officer of the Multi Materials Stewardship Board (MMSB); Doug Mills, Chair of the Northern Peninsula Regional Services Board; and Boyd Noel, Mayor of St. Anthony.

Funding for the depot has been provided by the MMSB through the Newfoundland and Labrador Waste Management Trust Fund.

MMSB is a provincial Crown agency that reports to the Minister of Environment and Conservation. MMSB supports modern waste management practices in the province, with a particular focus on waste diversion, recycling and public education, in order to ensure a clean and healthy environment throughout Newfoundland and Labrador.
