Cottage Lots for Sale in Central Newfoundland

A number of Crown land cottage lots will be available for public draw at two Central Newfoundland locations. Twenty-one of the cottage lots are located at Burnt Berry Pond, with another 19 available at Pauls Lake.

The lots will be sold as grants (outright ownership), with the full price due upon signature of the grant document. For Burnt Berry Pond, the lot prices range from $6,400 to $9,700, while the lots at Pauls Lake range from $10,900 to $15,600.

"Our Crown land is a very valuable provincial resource," said the Honourable Clyde Jackman, acting Minister of Environment and Conservation. "We are very prudent in our management of this land, and we are delighted when we can provide an opportunity for people to share in this resource."

Individuals who are interested in obtaining a lot must submit an application to the Central Regional Lands Office, 230 Airport Boulevard, Fraser Mall, Gander. Applications must be received there no later than 4:30 p.m., Friday, May 29, and applications received after the deadline will not be eligible.

An application fee of $113 is required, and the fee will be credited towards the successful applications. This fee will be fully refunded to applicants who do not obtain a lot. A public draw to determine applicant selection order through a random draw process for the 19 lots at Pauls Lake will be held 10:00 a.m. on Thursday, June 4, at the Central Regional Lands Office. A similar draw to determine applicant selection order for the 21 lots at Burnt Berry Pond will take place at 11:00 a.m. on the same day. Applicants may attend the meetings, but attendance is not necessary.

Following the random draws, applicants will be contacted by certified mail advising them of the ranking of their application. The selection of lots will take place at subsequent public meetings on dates to be announced, and attendance by applicants or their proxy will be required at those meetings.

Applicants are strongly advised to inspect lots and view on-site system evaluation reports prior to the selection meeting. Any lots remaining after the lot selection meeting will be offered to the public on a first-come, first-served basis on the next usual business day.
