Government to Invest $1.5 Million in Cartwright-L'Anse Au Clair Roads

Enhanced driving conditions lie ahead for residents in the Cartwright-L'Anse au Clair region, thanks to this years Provincial Roads Improvement Program.

The Honourable Dianne Whalen, Minister of Transportation and Works, announced today the investment of $1.5 million for road improvements in the area.

"This is yet another example of our governments commitment to providing an upgraded, safer transportation network," said Minister Whalen. "We recognize the need for road improvements across the province, especially in Labrador, thats why the Williams Government has invested a record-breaking $73 million in this years program."

Road work planned for the Cartwright-L'Anse au Clair region includes the upgrading and resurfacing of a section of Route 510, from the Quebec border to Pinware River, as well as supplying and applying crushed gravel from Red Bay to Lodge Bay.

The Provincial Roads Improvement Program will create an estimated 1,400 person years of employment and is part of the Provincial Governments infrastructure strategy, valued at more than $2 billion.
