A wide range of performances and events are scheduled this fall at provincial Arts and Culture Centres throughout Newfoundland and Labrador.

The Honourable Clyde Jackman, Minister of Tourism, Culture and Recreation, said the fall lineup includes music, comedy, theatre, dance, and community and school-based entertainment and activities which feature both local performers and visiting artists.

"The Provincial Government remains committed to supporting our Arts and Culture Centres, and the entertainers who bring their talents to the stage," said Minister Jackman. "We have recently undertaken a series of stakeholder consultations designed to ensure that, in the short and longer-term, these cultural centres become even more relevant, and more accessible, to the communities they serve."

Minister Jackman said the Provincial Government is now reviewing a series of recommendations arising from an independent consultant�s review of strategic and operational functions at the centres which will form the basis of a longer-term plan for revitalization of the six provincial Arts and Culture Centres, located in Labrador West, Stephenville, Corner Brook, Grand Falls-Windsor, Gander and St. John�s.

"The review has provided us with the information we need to formulate an action plan which will ensure our Arts and Culture Centres remain a vibrant part of our cultural community, both today and long into the future," said Minister Jackman.
