Canada Games Hoop Teams to Compete At Nationals

The Provincial Juvenile Boys� and Girls� Programs will be leaving for Charlottetown, P.E.I., this weekend to participate in the 2008 National U17 Championships slated for August 18-23. The boys� team will start off the schedule against Quebec and the girls� will face New Brunswick. The games following will be determined by either a win or a loss. Playoffs and placing games will take place on Friday, August 22. Members of the boys� team include: Teddy Cadigan, Evan Parsons, Josh Sellars, and Theodore Stanoev of St. John�s; John Dawson of Holyrood; Gerard Gale of Codroy Valley; Trevor Hearn of Mount Carmel; William Kenny of Trepassey; Morgan MacDonald of Logy Bay; Ciaran Curran, Andrew Mercer, Benjamin Riche of Mount Pearl. Coaches for the program are Randy Ash (Head Coach), Gary Sooley (Assistant Coach) and Dave Noseworthy (Manager).

The roster for the girls� team include: Samantha Flynn, Amy Gough, Amanda Martret of St. John�s; Audrey Molloy, Kelia Pond, Laura Shelly, Caitlin Walsh of the Goulds; Emelie Foo of Corner Brook; Rebecca Langmead of Torbay; Julia Loder of St. Lawrence; Janie O�Leary of Holyrood; and Myfanwy Price of Logy Bay. Coaches for the girls� team include Frank Foo (Head Coach), Doreen Pond (Assistant Coach) and Randy White (Manager).
