Stephenville Theatre Festival Supported through $25,000 Investment

The renowned Stephenville Theatre Festival, a cornerstone of cultural activity on the west coast, has received $25,000 in operational support from the Provincial Government.

The Honourable Clyde Jackman, Minister of Tourism, Culture and Recreation, said the funding has been provided through the arts component of the departments 2008 Cultural Economic Development Program (CEDP).

"The Stephenville Theatre Festival is celebrating its 30th season of operation," said Minister Jackman. "Its productions have long provided resident and visiting audiences with top-notch entertainment, while also allowing for the development of local actors, musicians, and the many theatre professionals behind the scenes who ensure the shows are of the highest quality."

The Honourable Joan Burke, MHA for St. Georges - Stephenville East, said the Stephenville Theatre Festival continues to enrich the cultural and economic fabric of the Town of Stephenville and the entire region.

"Over the years, there have been hundreds of people who have dedicated their time and talents to make this festival a premier event in the arts community," said Minister Burke. "It's an event that should not be missed, and will no doubt continue to grow and contribute to our local communities."

This years Stephenville Theatre Festival runs through to August 24. For more information on the festival and its productions, visit: //www.stf.nf.ca/.
