Provincial Court Judge Appointed for Stephenville

The Honourable Jerome Kennedy, Minister of Justice and Attorney General, today announced that Jacqueline Jenkins has been appointed a judge of the Provincial Court of Newfoundland and Labrador and will serve in the judicial centre of Stephenville.

"During her career, Ms. Jenkins has made an important contribution to the legal community of Newfoundland and Labrador," said Minister Kennedy. "She has also gained a significant understanding of the people of our province which, no doubt, has prepared her for this role. I know she will use this knowledge well during her tenure and I extend my congratulations on this appointment."

Called to the Bar in 1990, Ms. Jenkins is a graduate of Memorial University with a bachelor of arts and Dalhousie Law School with a bachelor of laws. She is a former bencher of the Law Society of Newfoundland and Labrador and has practised in the areas of family, criminal, commercial and real estate law. Ms. Jenkins is a member of the board of the Provincial Advisory Council on the Status of Women and is a partner with Griffin and Jenkins in Grand Falls-Windsor.

Ms. Jenkins� appointment is effective September 24, 2008.
