Manufacturing Insights Session to be Held in Labrador City

Manufacturers wishing to learn how to become more competitive will benefit from a free seminar in Labrador City on Wednesday, November 19.

"The manufacturing sector represents a key component of the provinces growing economy," said the Honourable Shawn Skinner, Minister of Innovation, Trade and Rural Development. "To help the sectors continued growth the Provincial Government has introduced a series of programs such as Manufacturers Insights. I strongly encourage local businesses to participate in this session as it highlights available resources for the establishment and expansion of businesses."

The seminar includes a series of presentations including the importance of partnerships, business networks development, stimulating innovation in manufacturing, regional success stories, along with financial and non-financial programs.

"Through the visionary direction outlined in our Northern Strategic Plan for Labrador, Labradorians continue to maximize development opportunities that establish us as a major economic growth area in our province," said the Honourable John Hickey, Minister of Labrador Affairs. "Seminars such as the Manufacturing Insights session will assist further development in our manufacturing sector while we work to position ourselves as a diverse global product and service provider."

The workshop is organized by the Department of Innovation, Trade and Rural Development (INTRD) in co-operation with the Canada-Newfoundland and Labrador Business Service Network (CNLBSN) and the Canadian Manufacturers and Exporters (CME). Presentations will be given by INTRD, CNLBSN, Atlantic Canada Opportunities Agency, CBDC Labrador, Business Development Bank of Canada, Community Accounts, and the Getting the Message Out program.

The workshop will be held at the Two Seasons Inn in Labrador City starting at 8:30 a.m. and will conclude with a free networking lunch from 1:00 p.m. to 1:30 p.m. Those interested in attending the conference and seek more information, please contact Melissa Coombs or Janice Barnes at 709-944-4046.
