Roofing Company Sentenced in Provincial Court

The Department of Government Services announced today that All Pro Roofing Limited was sentenced in Grand Falls Provincial Court on April 23, 2008 upon pleading guilty to one violation of the Occupational Health and Safety Regulations. Two charges were laid in January 2008 as a result of an investigation carried out by the Occupational Health and Safety Branch.

In November 2006, an inspection conducted by an officer of Occupational Health and Safety determined that employees were working on the roof of a school near Springdale without proper fall protection, thereby violating Occupational Health and Safety legislation. There was no accident or worker injury involved.

The company pleaded guilty to Section 60 of the regulations regarding fall protection and was fined $2,000 on that charge. The remaining charge relating to Section 5A of the act was withdrawn as part of the plea agreement.
