Premier Announces ADM
Appointments
The Honourable Danny Williams, Premier of
Newfoundland and Labrador, today announced the appointments of two
assistant deputy ministers for the Department of Health and Community
Services.
Effective January 2, Moira Hennessey will assume the position of
Assistant Deputy Minister � Special Projects, and Tony Wakeham will be
appointed as Assistant Deputy Minister � Regional Health Operations.
�These individuals have tremendous experience and will certainly add
value in their new roles,� said Premier Williams. �I look forward to
their contributions in the delivery of quality health care programs and
services for the residents of our province.�

Biographical
Information
Moira Hennessey
Moira Hennessey has over 25 years of dedicated service to health care
with the Government of Newfoundland and Labrador. Ms. Hennessey was
appointed Assistant Deputy Minister � Regional Health Operations with
the Department of Health and Community Services in April 2003 and was
responsible for providing direction and support to the divisions of
Board Services and Mental and Health Addictions and to the four regional
health authorities. Previous to this position she served in various
capacities with the department as Director of Board Services
(2001-2003), Director of Service Quality Improvement (1999-2001),
Director Acute and Long Term Care Institutional Services (1995-1999),
Heath Care Consultant (1992-1995), and from 1975-1984 in positions
including Heath Care Consultant, Director of Health Human Resources
Planning, and Management Analyst. Her career outside the Provincial
Government also included a number of positions in health care consulting
and management.
Ms. Hennessey is a graduate of Memorial University of Newfoundland
(Commerce, Honours) and holds certificates from the Canadian Health Care
Association in Total Quality Management and Health Services Management.
Tony Wakeham
Tony Wakeham has over 15 years of senior-level experience in health care
management including Vice President of Corporate Affairs, Central West
Health Corporation (1994-2004), Assistant Executive Director Hospital
Services, Clarenville Area Hospital Board (1990-1994), and Manager,
Budgeting and Auditing, Department of Health and Community Services
(1984-1990). He also served as internal auditor with the Department of
Finance (1982-1984) and auditor with the Department of the Auditor
General (1980-1982). Since 2004, he has been employed as President of
Chelsea Food Services Ltd.
Mr. Wakeham is a graduate of Memorial University of Newfoundland
(Economics), and completed a program in Health Services Management with
the Canadian College of Health Services Executives.
