Premier Receives Letter from Jack Layton
Outlining the NDP Position on Provincial Issues

The Honourable Danny Williams, Premier of Newfoundland and Labrador, today released the response from NDP Leader Jack Layton, which was received yesterday. The letter responds to Premier Williams letters of September 9, 2008, which requested policy positions of the Conservative, Liberal and NDP federal leaders in the context of the federal election. The questions concentrated specifically on issues of importance to the Province of Newfoundland and Labrador.

"I am pleased to have received the first response to my letters to our federal party leaders," said Premier Williams. "Mr. Laytons responses will give voters in this province better insight into the position of the NDP regarding a number of important issues for Newfoundland and Labrador. I look forward to receiving the responses from Prime Minister Stephen Harper and Stphane Dion in the near future."
