Executive Council July 8, 2008 New Channing Fellow and Deputy Minister Appointed The Honourable Danny Williams, Premier of Newfoundland and Labrador, today announced that Bruce Hollett has accepted the position of Fellow of the James G. Channing Chair in Public Administration, Memorial University, effective July 3 for a period of one year. The Premier also announced the appointment, on an interim basis, of Bill Parrott as Deputy Minister, Department of Environment and Conservation, the position most recently held by Mr. Hollett. Mr. Parrott�s appointment was also effective July 3. "We wish Mr. Hollett well in this new phase of his public service career," said Premier Williams. "We also thank Mr. Parrott for accepting the Acting Deputy Minister appointment, and look forward to his continued contributions." Biographical Information Bruce Hollett Prior to being appointed Deputy Minister of Environment and Conservation in December, 2006, Bruce Hollett served as Deputy Minister of Education and President (Acting) of the College of the North Atlantic. His previous positions with the Provincial Government include Deputy Minister, Department of Industry, Trade and Technology; Deputy Minister, Department of Youth Services and Post-Secondary Education; Assistant Deputy Minister and then Deputy Minister, the Voisey�s Bay Project Secretariat; and Director of Fiscal Policy, Department of Finance. He has a master of business administration from York University and a bachelor of commerce (honours) from Memorial University. Bill Parrott Bill Parrott most recently served as Assistant Deputy Minister (Environment), Department of Environment and Conservation. He served previously as Assistant Secretary to Cabinet (Economic Policy); Assistant Deputy Minister of Lands, Department of Environment and Conservation; Director of Crown Lands, Department of Government Services; Regional Lands Manager in Happy Valley-Goose Bay; Regional Lands Manager for the Central Region, Gander; and Manager of Crown Lands Administration.
