Minister Celebrates Volunteer Week

Volunteer Week is April 27 - May 3 and the Honourable Tom Hedderson, Minister Responsible for the Volunteer and Non-Profit Sector, will be participating in a number of events to celebrate volunteers.

This years theme, Volunteers! Youre Part of the Picture, speaks to the fact that volunteers play a major part in contributing economically, socially, and culturally to the community. Volunteers aid in providing a quality of life that sees people happier, healthier and more productive in their personal and professional lives.

"I encourage the people of Newfoundland and Labrador to join with me in recognizing and celebrating the time and effort volunteers put into the community," said Minister Hedderson. "We are continuing to strengthen the relationship between government and the voluntary and non-profit sector to make the best use of all our skills and resources. We want to support the sector as it strives to improve its capacity and address the challenges shared by so many of us in a quickly changing society."
