Executive Council April 8, 2008 Media Advisory: Minister to Speak at Volunteer Events
The Honourable Tom Hedderson, Minister Responsible for the Volunteer and Non-Profit Sector, will be speaking at volunteer events April 8-9. The schedule of events is as follows: United Way of Avalon�s celebration of their 2007 campaign results takes place on Tuesday, April 8, at 6:30 p.m. at The Rooms. The mission of United Way of Avalon is to improve lives and build a stronger community on the Avalon Peninsula by engaging individuals and mobilizing collective action. Newfoundland and Labrador Administrators of Volunteer Resources First Annual Awards presentation takes place on Wednesday, April 9, at 12:00 p.m. at the Holiday Inn. The Newfoundland and Labrador Administrators of Volunteer Resources is an association for those who are responsible for the co-rdination and management of volunteer resources. Their goal is to enhance the volunteer services provided by members and agencies. The Brigus Volunteer Appreciation Dinner takes place on Wednesday, April 9, at 7:30 p.m. at the Brigus Recreation Centre. This dinner is sponsored by the town council as a token of appreciation for present day members of the Volunteer Fire Brigade Ladies Auxiliary, Brigus Recreation, and staff of the town council. -30- Media contact: 2008 04 08 9:15 a.m.
