Premier Leading Delegation to Meeting of Atlantic Cabinets
The Honourable Danny Williams, Premier of Newfoundland and Labrador, will lead a delegation of his Cabinet ministers at a meeting of Atlantic Cabinets in Sackville, New Brunswick, this week. Hosted by the Government of New Brunswick, the meeting of Atlantic Cabinets will bring together members of the Cabinets of the four Atlantic Provinces to discuss issues related to the social and economic prosperity of the region.
"This meeting will give Newfoundland and Labrador a chance to discuss our position on the common issues that affect the Atlantic region and our collective priorities to move the region forward over the next five to 10 years," said Premier Williams. "It will be a great opportunity to meet with Cabinets from the other three provinces to bring attention to topics, such as energy and the environment, which are key components in this province�s economy."
Cabinet ministers attending on behalf of this province are:
Premiers and ministers will discuss topics under four themes: demographics and educational attainment; wellness and healthy living; innovation and economic progress; energy and the environment. Newfoundland and Labrador has been a formal member of the Council of Atlantic Premiers since 2000, but this is the first gathering of Atlantic Cabinets.
