Environmental Assessment Bulletin

The Honourable Charlene Johnson, Minister of Environment and Conservation, has announced the following events relative to Part 10 Environmental Assessment of the Environmental Protection Act.

UNDERTAKINGS RELEASED:

1) Baie Verte Golf Course

Proponent: Mr. Leroy Barker (Reg. 1368)

This undertaking was released from environmental assessment subject to the following conditions:

The area is under timber licence to Corner Brook Pulp and Paper Limited (CBPP). Prior to any cutting of timber on this project site, the proponent must contact CBPP concerning the harvesting of the timber.

The proponent must develop a buffer zone plan in consultation with the Wildlife Division of the Department of Environment and Conservation to minimize impacts on water bodies. Tees and greens are to be 50 metres from the high water mark and fairways are to be 20 metres from the high water mark.

2) Long Pond, Conception Bay South Marina Development

Proponent: MAE Design Limited (Reg. 1373)

3) 2008 Balsam Fir Sawfly Program in Western NL (Reg. 1383)

Proponent: Department of Natural Resources, Forestry Services Branch

ENVIRONMENTAL PROTECTION PLAN ACCEPTED AS SATISFACTORY:

Grassy Point (Placentia Bay) Liquefied Natural Gas Transshipment Terminal

Proponent: Newfoundland LNG Limited (Reg. 1304)

The Minister has determined the Environmental Protection Plan is satisfactory, in fulfillment of one of the conditions of release announced on January 19, 2007.
