Public Advisory: Northern Ranger to Resume Southbound Labrador Service

The Honourable John Hickey, Minister of Transportation and Works and Minister Responsible for Labrador Affairs, announced today that the Northern Ranger will resume service to southern Labrador starting Saturday, June 23.

The Northern Ranger will be departing Lewisporte Saturday afternoon for Black Tickle, Cartwright and Rigolet, on its way into Happy Valley-Goose Bay. Although Northern Labrador continues to be severely impacted by ice conditions, the communities of Black Tickle and Rigolet can be accessed from Goose Bay and Cartwright.

The Northern Ranger will commence service to other Labrador communities, from Makkovik to Nain, once ice conditions permit.

The Department of Transportation and Works has created the following schedule:

  • The Northern Ranger will depart Happy Valley-Goose Bay on Tuesday arriving in Rigolet on Tuesday and Cartwright and Black Tickle on Wednesday;
  • The vessel will return from Black Tickle on Wednesday arriving in Cartwright and Rigolet on Thursday and Happy Valley-Goose Bay on Friday;
  • The vessel will return to Rigolet on Saturday and arrive back in Happy Valley-Goose Bay on Sunday.
