Government Injects $1.5M in Windsor-Springdale Roads

Residents of the Windsor-Springdale area will enjoy a more pleasant driving experience this summer.

The Honourable John Hickey, Minister of Transportation and Works, today announced an investment of $1.5 million for road improvements in the area as part of governments ongoing pledge to improve transportation infrastructure throughout the province.

Government has once again pre-committed $60 million for the Provincial Roads Improvement Program in the 2007-08 budget. This early funding will allow the tendering process and construction season to begin much sooner.

The Williams government is committed to providing an optimum transportation network in this province, said Minister Hickey.

This is evidenced by our recent substantial investment in the Provincial Roads Improvement Program.

The road improvement projects planned for Windsor-Springdale are:

  • Rehabilitation of Black Brook Bridge, Route 410;
  • Resurface section of Roberts Arm Road, Route 380;
  • Upgrade and repave section of Route 380 in Triton;
  • Upgrade and repave section of Route 380-16 in Brighton.

Ray Hunter, MHA for Windsor-Springdale, said: I am very pleased with this years allocation for road improvements in my district. The funding will be instrumental in making much needed improvements to our roadways.
