Environmental Assessment Bulletin

The Honourable Clyde Jackman, Minister of Environment and Conservation, has announced the following events relative to Part 10 Environmental Assessment of the Environmental Protection Act.

UNDERTAKING REGISTERED:

Abitibi Five Year Forestry Plan Districts 10,11,12,13 (2008-12)                       (Reg. 1346)
Proponent: Abitibi Consolidated Inc.

The proponent has outlined the proposed forest activities for Districts 10, 11, 12, and 13 for the next planning period (January 1, 2008 to December 31, 2012) which include: harvesting, road building, silviculture and forest protection. A description of the public consultation process and input from government agencies is also included.

The undertaking was registered on July 30, 2007; public comments are due by September 7, 2007; and, the minister's decision is due by September 13, 2007.

UNDERTAKING RELEASED:

Garden Hill (Port au Port Peninsula) Seismic Program                                   (Reg. 1339)
PDI Production Inc.

The undertaking was released by the minister subject to the following condition:

  • The approval of an Environmental Protection Plan for each of the 2D and 3D seismic surveys separately.

The minister encourages all interested parties to become involved and to make comments known. Comments on submitted documents are invited from the public, addressed in writing to the minister, and are welcome prior to the deadline date shown.
