Environmental Assessment Bulletin

The Honourable Clyde Jackman, Minister of Environment and Conservation, has announced the following events relative to Part 10 Environmental Assessment of the Environmental Protection Act.


UNDERTAKING RELEASED:

Exploits Valley Mink Farm                                                                   (Reg. 1307)
Proponent: Mr. Raymond Mullett


ENVIRONMENTAL IMPACT STATEMENT COMPONENT STUDY RECEIVED:

Long Harbour Commercial Nickel Processing Plant Project                    (Reg. 1243)
Proponent: Voisey's Bay Nickel Company

The proponent has submitted the required Socio-economic Component Study for the environmental assessment of the above undertaking. Public comments must be received not later than March 19, 2007. The minister will decide the acceptability of the study not later than Tuesday April 3, 2007, upon receiving recommendations from the EA Committee. UNDERTAKING WITHDRAWN:

Crown District 4 Five-Year Operating Plan Southwest Gander Amendment
Proponent: Newfoundland Forest Service                                              (Reg.1268)

The proponent has withdrawn the above undertaking from environmental assessment.


ADDITIONAL APPOINTMENT TO ENVIRONMENTAL ASSESSMENT COMMITTEE:

Newfoundland and Labrador Refinery Project                                         (Reg. 1301)
Proponent: Newfoundland and Labrador Refining Corporation

The minister has appointed the following additional representatives to the Environmental Assessment Committee for the above undertaking:
