Public Advisory: Department Announces Closure of Nicholsville Bridge

The Department of Transportation and Works today announced the immediate closure of the Nicholsville Bridge in the town of Deer Lake.

The department's engineers have determined that, while the bridge is not in imminent danger of failure, in the interest of public safety, the department is not willing to keep it open.

The Nicholsville Bridge, built in 1940, is 110 metres long. An alternate route, Route 430 and the Trans Canada Highway, is located approximately three kilometres away.
