NOTE TO EDITORS: Minister to attend official opening of three new projects in LAnse au Clair region

Tom Hedderson, Minister of Tourism, Culture and Recreation, will be attending various events in the LAnse au Clair region on Monday.

Minister Hedderson will be attending the official opening of three new projects: the renovated Gateway to Labrador Visitor Centre, the Jersey Trail and the new AMG Town Centre in LAnse au Clair on Monday (June 26).

"These projects are significant to the tourism industry and community development in the LAnse au Clair region and to Newfoundland and Labrador in general," said Minister Hedderson. "I am delighted to be able to take part in the celebrations."

The Gateway to Labrador Visitor Centre, a restored early 20th century church, is the first building on the entrance to LAnse au Clair and will serve as a link to the rest of the province.

The Jersey Trail, in nearby Lanse au Cotard, extends along the shoreline of the L'Anse au Clair Bay and tells the story of LAnse au Clairs first settlers. Stone building foundations and an extensive stone-paved walkway are still visible.

The redeveloped AGM Town Centre offers a new facility for everyone in the community to enjoy. It houses a family resource centre, new council chambers, a gym and a computer room with internet access.

Guided tours of the Jersey Trail will be held at 10 a.m. and 2 p.m. on Monday (June 26), leaving from the Gateway to Labrador Visitor Centre.

The official ceremony will take place at Gateway to Labrador Visitor Centre at 6 p.m.

Media representatives are invited to attend.
