NOTE TO EDITORS: This year, be a tourist at home

The Department of Tourism, Culture and Recreation and Hospitality Newfoundland and Labrador will be launching the new resident marketing campaign entitled No Place Like Home and kicking off tourism awareness week tomorrow (Friday, June 2). The event takes place at The Rooms at 11 a.m.

"We want to encourage residents to get out and about this summer and to explore all the province has to offer," said Minister Tom Hedderson. "After all, you don�t have to go away to get away."

Information will be provided about summer events and festivals. Local tourism operators will also be on hand to talk about getaways and package deals for this summer.
