NOTE TO EDITORS: Minister unveils student heritage poster

Tom Hedderson, Minister of Tourism, Culture and Recreation, will be announcing the winner of the 2nd annual Heritage Day Poster contest on Monday, February 20.

Students across the province submitted artwork for the contest. They were asked to create a poster depicting a heritage place in Newfoundland and Labrador and to prepare a written statement explaining why the place is important to them.

The winning entry will be used in the 2006 marketing campaign for the Heritage Foundation of Newfoundland and Labrador.

The Heritage Day Poster Contest is a wonderful opportunity for students to learn about the historic places in their community though research and artistic expression, said Minister Hedderson.

The event takes place at the Christina Parker Gallery, 7 Plank Road, at 10 a.m.
