Team Canada Atlantic announces companies participating in Florida Trade Mission

A delegation of 47 companies and organizations from across Atlantic Canada will participate in an upcoming trade mission to Florida. The state, touted by many as the Gateway to the Americas, offers significant opportunities for Atlantic Canadian companies in the areas of advanced manufacturing; agri-food and seafood; building and construction products; consumer products; information communications technology; life sciences; and ocean industries.

Mission participants were announced today and include 13 companies and organizations from Newfoundland and Labrador. The Team Canada Atlantic (TCA) trade mission to Miami and Orlando is scheduled for May 14-18, 2006.

"The Government of Canada is working with determination to deliver on commitments made to Canadians in five key areas: accountability, taxation, crime, child care and health care," said the Peter G. MacKay, Minister of Foreign Affairs and the Atlantic Canada Opportunities Agency (ACOA). "Its all part of building a strong, united Canada one that reaches our true potential. And nowhere is that potential more apparent than in our efforts to assist Atlantic Canadian exporters."

"Trade missions give local companies an opportunity to obtain national and international exposure and to market themselves abroad," said Premier Danny Williams. "Newfoundland and Labrador companies have a lot to offer the international marketplace and we are pleased to support their pursuit of opportunities in the Florida market."

Team Canada Atlantic is a partnership of ACOA, Agriculture and Agri-Food Canada, Industry Canada, Foreign Affairs Canada, International Trade Canada and the four Atlantic Provinces, and is committed to strengthening the trade and investment relationship between Atlantic Canada and the United States.

Eleven previous trade missions to the New England states, Atlanta, New York, Washington D.C., and Chicago have helped 329 Atlantic Canadian entrepreneurs to meet with more than 2,750 buyers, agents and business owners from across the United States, resulting in export sales of more than of $36 million.
