Government releases reports on Labrador Transportation

Trevor Taylor, Minister of Transportation and Works, today announced the release of three Labrador transportation reports on a Southern Labrador Regional Airport, marine base freight rates and passenger fares, and marine services.

These reports are now accessible to the general public on Transportation and Works web site: www.gov.nl.ca/tw/publications.stm. The public is free to post a response to these reports, by e-mailing the department at: twminister@gov.nl.ca.

The reports were recently made available to the Minister�s Advisory Committee on Labrador Transportation, as part of government�s consultation process. The minister noted that government has not made any decisions regarding the recommendations in these reports.

The reports will eventually feed into a greater Labrador Transportation Strategy.

On February 27, in Happy Valley-Goose Bay, Minister Taylor announced the formation of the Minister�s Advisory Committee on Labrador Transportation - a nine-member committee established to make recommendations on how best to address future Labrador transportation needs.
