NOTE TO EDITORS: Premier and minister support Craig Sharpe at Canadian Idol finale

Premier Danny Williams will attend the finale show of Canadian Idol in Toronto and Tom Hedderson, Minister of Tourism, Culture and Recreation, will watch the season finale along with Craig�s fans at an event at the Upper Island Cove Recreation Centre. Both the Premier and minister said they look forward to showing their support for the Canadian Idol hopeful.

"Craig is yet another example of the incredible talent that we produce here in Newfoundland and Labrador, and we are all so very proud of this young gentleman," said Premier Williams. "On behalf of all Newfoundlanders and Labradorians, I wish Craig the very best heading into the finale. No matter what the outcome, Craig Sharpe is a winner and a true role model for us all."

"Craig has represented Newfoundland and Labrador wonderfully on the national stage," said Minister Hedderson. "We are all very proud of his achievements and I can�t wait to watch the finale in his home community with so many of his extended family and friends. I wish Craig all the best. Certainly, he has already proved he is a winner."

The show will be televised at 8:30 p.m local time. Doors open for the event at the Upper Island Cove Recreation Centre at 6 p.m., with performances by local musicians before the show starts at 8:30 p.m.
