Expertise on MUN Board of Regents
New appointments have been made to Memorial University
Board of Regents. The Honourable Joan Burke, Minister of Education,
noted that the individuals represent many different professions as well
as volunteer and community involvement which will prove to be an asset
to the operation of the University.
The Board of Regents plays a critical role in determining the future of
our provinces university system, said Minister Burke. It is important
we have a team that has the skills, dedication and enthusiasm to lead
the university in the coming years. The individuals recently appointed
have a strong background in education, business, community involvement
and volunteerism, just to name a few. This is exactly what we need on
the board to ensure the university continues to provide a rich learning
environment for students and faculty alike.
The new appointments are as follows: James Igloliorte, Judy White,
Jeanette Lundrigan, Martin Gould, Jim Keating, Brian Dalton, Tony Roche,
Rosellen Sullivan, Gaylene Buckle and Vinod Patel.
Memorial University Board of Regents is responsible for the management,
administration and the affairs of the university. It comprises a diverse
group of individuals representing business, social and educational
sectors as well as students. All serve three-year terms.
I thank all the individuals for accepting appointments to the Board of
Regents. Being a member of the board can be challenging, but each member
will make a vital contribution to the universitys future success, and
therefore to the success of our province. On behalf of the Provincial
Government, I applaud these dedicated Newfoundlanders and Labradorians
for agreeing to volunteer their time and talents, said the minister.
