Road work announced for Bellevue
District
Tom Rideout, Minister of Transportation and
Works, today announced road work for Bellevue District, under the 2005-06
Provincial Roads Improvement Program.
"The Department of Transportation and Works maintains approximately 9,500 km of
primary, secondary and community roads throughout the province, and government
has an ongoing commitment to improving all transportation links in order to
provide a safe and reliable roads system," said Minister Rideout. "To that end,
I am pleased to announce planned projects in the Bellevue District, with the
attainment of this goal in mind."
Bellevue District will see the replacement of the Fair Haven Culvert on the
Trans Canada Highway, as well as the existing culvert at Landys Cove Brook on
Route 201. There are also plans to supply and install a bailey bridge at
Arnolds Cove Station. These projects are valued at $425,000.
"In Budget 2005, government will be spending $33.7 million on the Provincial
Roads Improvement Program, including $3.7 million in carryovers from last year,"
said Minister Rideout. "This demonstrates governments commitment to the
upgrading of the provinces roadways."
