$80,100 in funding support announced under Crab Workers Support Program

The Department of Municipal Affairs today provided an update on projects approved under the province�s Crab Workers Support Program, and announced $80,100 in funding approvals.

"We continue to see that many applications submitted under the program seek additional funding for projects that are already underway. To me, it speaks to the quality and the value of community projects that we are funding," stated Minister Jack Byrne. "Tremendous work is being done here. I thank the various groups involved for their assistance with the program, and the workers themselves for their valuable efforts to improve community infrastructure."

New projects total $31,100 include the following:

  • $2,080 to Bay Roberts Central United Church for repairs to cemetery and meeting room;
  • $4,150 to Carbonear Pastoral Charge United Church for painting and repairs;
  • $17,600 to Harbour Grace for repairs to S.W. Moores Memorial Stadium;
  • $3,100 to Humber Arm South for repairs to day park;
  • $2,080 to Newville for community clean-up;
  • $2,100 to St. Anthony for trail upgrade and maintenance.
  • Additionally, $49,000 has been approved to provide increased funding support for previously approved projects located in Badger�s Quay, Bonavista, Clarke�s Beach, Cottlesville, Fogo Island, Hant�s Harbour, Harbour Grace, Heart�s Content, Leading Tickles, Marysvale, Pilley�s Island, Raleigh, Salmon Cove, St. Anthony, St. Vincent�s-St. Stephen�s-Peter�s River, Summerford, and Triton.
